Rohit Sharma Under Pressure: Can the Hitman Deliver for MI in IPL 2025 Opener?

Rohit Sharma has been the heartbeat of Mumbai Indians for over a decade, but heading into the IPL 2025 opener against CSK on March 20, the Hitman is under more scrutiny than ever. I’ve followed Rohit’s IPL journey closely, and here at IPLPulseFantasyCricketDugout, I can’t help but wonder if he can silence his doubters at Chepauk tonight—especially with MI missing Jasprit Bumrah.

Rohit’s 2024 season was underwhelming—he scored 330 runs at an average of 28, a far cry from his peak years. Losing the MI captaincy to Hardik Pandya last year didn’t sit well with fans, and with Hardik struggling as captain (MI finished 10th in 2024), the spotlight is back on Rohit to lead from the front with the bat. Add to that Bumrah’s absence for the first few games—he’s out with a back injury until early April—and MI desperately need Rohit to fire in the powerplay to set a platform against CSK’s bowling.

CSK’s attack, led by Deepak Chahar’s replacement (now with MI) and Matheesha Pathirana, will test Rohit early, but the real challenge will be in the middle overs against Jadeja and Ashwin. Rohit has a decent record at Chepauk (average of 35), but his recent struggles against spin (strike rate of 110 since 2023) could be exposed on a turning track.

Fantasy Spotlight

Rohit (9 credits) is a high-risk, high-reward captaincy pick. If he gets going, he could rack up 60+ points, but there’s a chance he falls early to CSK’s spinners. If you’re backing him, pair him with Suryakumar Yadav (8.5 credits) for a strong MI top-order combo.

I’ll be watching Rohit’s innings closely on our IPL 2025 Pulse Tracker. Can the Hitman deliver when MI needs him most? Share your thoughts in the comments—I’m rooting for a Rohit special!

Punjab Kings: A Regal Revamp for IPL 2025 Glory? Shreyas Iyer’s Brigade Eyes Elusive Crown with Swagger and Spin T he Indian Premier League has long been cricket’s gaudiest stage, a kaleidoscope of sixes, stumpings, and stratospheric salaries. Yet for Punjab Kings, it’s been a tale of near-misses and what-ifs, their trophy cabinet as barren as a Lord’s outfield in winter. Enter the 2025 season, and there’s a whiff of something different in the Chandigarh air. With a squad retooled at November’s mega auction and a captain in Shreyas Iyer who oozes urbane confidence, Punjab might just trade perennial promise for silverware. Or will they? The Kings splashed Rs 110 crore to assemble a 23-man roster that blends international heft with Indian grit. Iyer, fetched for a princely Rs 26.75 crore, is the jewel in their crown, a batsman whose silken cover drives recall Mumbai’s storied lineage. He’s joined by Australia’s Glenn Maxwell, a six-hitting tornado, and Marcus Stoinis, whose all-ro...

Here’s the bombshell: DC’s star recruit KL Rahul is out of the lineup, missing this juicy clash against his former team. Whispers suggest the 32-year-old is skipping the game for personal reasons, possibly celebrating the arrival of his first child with wife Athiya Shetty. DC captain Axar Patel shrugged, “He joined us, but we’re unsure if he’s playing.” That leaves LSG’s new skipper Rishabh Pant, facing his old mates, with a point to prove and fireworks in his sights. The Vizag pitch is a batter’s delight, dishing up scores around 160 to 170, and tonight’s dew might just gift the chasing side a golden ticket. DC, led by Axar, flaunt a bowling attack packing heat with Mitchell S...
